Factors to consider when buying a PC or laptop for my course

There are many import factors to consider when buying a PC or laptop for our course. The first one being, quite obviously, whether to buy a PC or a laptop. I would imagine most students would agree with me that a laptop would be the more convenient option as it is portable, smaller and more than likely quicker to use depending on the specificaitons. All of these reasons would make it easier and more suitable when doing the many assignments and research that students must do while they are studying in 3rd level education.

The second factor I would consider is the price. While researching on the Dell website I found various prices for both. For example. a desktop cost €429 as opposed to a laptop which cost €399. However, it depends on the various sellers and specifications (space and speed) of the laptops and computers and it is not easy to compare the two since there are many deals out at the moment. It is much more popular at the moment for students to buy laptops rather than desktops and I think the main reason is that they are portable so you can work anywhere on the laptop rather than be confined with a desktop.

Another important consideration when buying a laptop is the battery life. For example, when buying this dell laptop I ordered a 9c battery so this lasts three times longer than a normal battery. Once the battery is charged I can work on the laptop without being connected to a socket for approximately 3 hours. This is important as if the battery runs out in the middle of an important assignment or while working on a group project in college it would be devestating as all the hard work can be lost in seconds!

The other factor is whether the programmes which are necessary for a student's course are on the computer or not. Usually Microsoft Office is not included but you can buy a student edition which is much cheaper. The other programmes which are necessary for the course I am doing are Photoshop and Illustrator. These are all extras.

All the above are the factors which I consider very important when deciding what laptop or computer a student should buy for their course. I hope it is useful reading.

NEW IPOD NANO

There is no doubt technology keeps advancing and will keep on doing so. an example of this is the new ipod nano out that not only has the same great features as the older model but this even has a video camera which enables you to catch all the funny happy sad moments you come across in your daily life. i personally think it is a great idea and such an advance in technology comparing it to the size of the camcorders which my parents used to use to capture the memories when i was a child.

additionally this new ipod has a slimmer design with a wider choice of colours to suit everybodies tastes.it also has a larger screen. it has an fm radio built in and a live pause so you can stop the music anytime you want and return to it when you desire. sounds good to me!

the following is a link to this new ipods website and has various pictures, information and videos describing this new product. i enjoyed looking at it and i hope you do too.

FACEBOOK SOCIAL NETWORKING PROBLEMS

This article is about a very serious problem which errupted in a womans life from the use of posting photos on the popular social network site facebook. Nathilie Blanchachard was on sick leave from her work for a year and a half as she was suffering from depression.however her pay has recently been stopped and she rang her employers insurance company who revealed to her after seeing pictures of her out enjoying herself on her facebook that she is actually 'available for work'.

nathilie was disgraced when she heard this and claimed how her doctor told her she needed to be getting out and doing things with her friends. she explained that although she is feeling okay at the moment it doesnt mean that she is cured and when she is not feeling okay she is very very low. she does not feel well enough for work at the moment and feels violated that people are jumping to conclusions regarding her wellbeing just because she has gotten out of her house.
she has filed a civil suit and is not giving up fighting her case as she does not believe she is in the wrong.

the above is an example of how a bit of fun and socialising can cause your problems on social networks and this woman may lose her job over it. i hope this post was of interest to readers.
